Getting onto a conference...

If you have already registered and received your conference bridge dial-in number and access code, you have everything you need to ConferenceUP. Just coordinate a time with the people you would like to participate in the conference and give them the dial-in number and access code.

When it's time to get on the call, dial the conference bridge number...

You'll hear a greeting "Welcome... Please enter your access code followed by the pound key"

If you want host functions which enable you to lock and unlock the conference room, globally mute listeners, count the number of callers on the call, and change the tones, you will press the STAR key (*) instead of the POUND (#) key. You will want everyone else to press the POUND key.

After you enter the code and the STAR/POUND key, you will be prompted to verify the access code. If it is correct, press "1" or press "2" to re-enter the key.

Congratulations, you are now in the conference. If you are the first caller, you will hear music until the next caller enters the conference.

Commands while in your conference...

There are two sets of commands available while in the conference:
participant commands and host commands.

The following is a reference you can clip and carry with you (please right-click to download the image and trim down the card if you like):

Helpful hints...

  • If you experience background noise, it may be from people in noisy environments or using cell phones. To alleviate this problem, you can ask people to hit the "6" key to mute themselves until they need to talk when they would hit "6" again to unmute themselves or you can use the "Listen Only Modes" by pressing the "5" key as the host of a conference. There are several modes of this function, one of which is "Global Mute".
  • If you are concerned with security (which is an issue with any reservationless conference service), you should make sure you have the tone controls on to know when people join and exit the conference. When you make sure everyone is on the call by doing a roll call or using the "2" key to count the number of callers, you can use the "7" key to secure the conference, i.e. no one else can join the call until you press "7" again to unsecure the conference. If someone drops off unexpectedly, having the tone control on to signal people leaving the conference will notify you and allow you to unsecure the conference to let that person back onto the call.
  • If you are new to hosting audio conferences, please take 5 minutes with a friend or associate to understand how the host functions work and you can manage your conferences smoothly to make the most of your conference call.
